Make Up Tips for Acne and Zits
The beauty of your face can be
diminished if you have an outbreak of acne or pimples. We have discussed in more detail the “How to cover up”
blemishes in our Concealer Make Up tips section.
Here we will emphasize more how to
prevent and treat blemishes. Bacteria are the cause of acne, blemishes, pimples, or zits. Keep that in mind as you
read these tips:
How to cover acne
scars:
Use an oil-free liquid foundation applied with a foundation
brush.
How to prevent
outbreaks:
-
Keep your
face and hair clean. Wash your face gently twice a day with antibacterial soap. Wash your hands
frequently, and keep them away from your face. Use a good over-the-counter product to help prevent
acne.
-
Wash often
all things that come in contact with your face; pillowcases, make up sponges and brushes, telephone, washcloths, and
towels.
-
Avoid harsh
soaps and colognes that could aggravate your skin.
-
Wash off all
make up at the end of the day. Toss any make up that smells
rancid or that has gone past its’ expiration date.
-
Eat healthy
and get enough sleep. There is no proof that diet affect blemishes, but it can’t hurt.
-
If you begin
having real acne problems consult a dermatologist for instructions on how to prevent
scarring.
How to dry
out zits:
-
If your have
oily skin, use an over-the-counter acne treatment containing five percent benzoyl peroxide or salicylic
acid.
-
If you just
broke out, but don’t have any acne medicine, try toothpaste or calamine lotion. Both have a drying
effect, but aren’t as good as other medications.
-
If you have
a pimple that hasn’t headed up yet, apply a warm washcloth to the area twice a day.
- Another technique to try is to
put a small piece of tape over the blemish overnight. This is supposed to help dry up the
fluid.
How to
Treat Pimples on your Back:
A lot of the ideas
above still apply here. You need to keep sheets and pillowcases clean. Get a good back-scrubber so you
can clean all areas of your back. Dry off using a clean towel. Apply astringent to your back with
cotton balls after every shower.
