How to correct your lips

We all come with different lips.  Some of us have small lips while others have large lips.  Some of us have thin lips while others have full lips. That’s okay.  There are things we can do to help our lips look their best.  Here are some solutions:

Dry Lips

  • Rub some lotion into your lips before applying lipstick.

  • Choose tinted lipsticks or glosses instead of matte lipstick.

Lipstick Won’t Stay On

  • Try applying Chap Stick before your lipstick.  It’ll help hold the color.

  • Powder your lips before applying your lipstick.  This gives the lipstick something to cling to longer.

  • Apply your lipstick.  Blot. Add a layer of loose or pressed powder. Apply another layer of lipstick.

  • Outline your lips with lip liner.  Then, apply your lipstick.

  • Try some of the longwearing lipsticks.  One brand I really like is Cover Girl Out-last Lip Color.  I put it on in the morning and have to remove it at night.  It literally lasts all day.

Make Large Lips Look Smaller

  • Use muted colors of lipstick like purple, brown and bronze.

  • Do not use glosses or shiny lipstick.

  • Use matte formulas of lipstick.

Make Small Lips Look Fuller

  • Don’t use dark colors on your lips.  This will make them appear even smaller.

  • Dab on a little high shine Lip Gloss just to the middle of your lips.  This helps make the lip look larger.

  • Apply a neutral colored lip liner just outside of your natural lip line. Then, apply your lipstick over that.  Finish off with a touch of Lip Gloss.

  • After applying your lipstick, apply a white eye shadow to the center of your lips and spread slightly.

  • Wear light shades of lipstick.

  • Try one of the new lip plumpers like “City Lips”.  They literally make your lips bigger!

Uneven Lips

  • Balance unevenly shaped lips by using a lighter colored lipstick on the smaller-sized lip.

Vertical Lip Lines

  • For a quick fix, fill the your lip lines with a waxy product like lip balm. Apply your lipstick over the wax.

  • For a long-term solution, use an anti-aging product that contains collagen.  Use regularly.

  • Another tip that helps is to apply your lipstick vertically.
